You can be one of the first to experience a ride that brings together some of the best touring on the western mountains and on the Pacific coast of Mexico, coupled with visits to culturally iconic sites and areas of breathtaking beauty.

We’ll begin the tour, as always, from our hometown of Ajijic, embarking on a warm-up ride around the lake. Back in town you may freshen up before cocktails and our welcome dinner at a restaurant.

Following breakfast at your hotel the next morning, you will check out and be dressed for a day of riding. We’ll pick you up, get on our bikes, and head out to the Tequila Canyon (Barranca de Tequila). When we stop at the overlook on the road to El Salvador, you cannot help but marvel at the endless vista of the vast valley below, including the 9,600-foot Tequila Volcano. We will arrive in the Magical Town of Tequila for a late lunch and a distillery tour (and the tequila tasting that comes with it). Our dining choices will be excellent, as will our beautiful Mexican colonial hotel.

After breakfast at the hotel on Day Four, we’ll head out toward Magdalena, the opal mining town, where surprisingly inexpensive opals are available on the plaza. Further on, we’ll take a break near Tepic, the capital of the state of Nayarit. The roads today take us through canyons and mountain ranges, ending at our destination of San Blas on the Pacific. Our hotel happens to feature an award-winning chef, so we’ll enjoy both dinner and breakfast there.

On Day Five we’ll head southward, passing through two coastal ranges to Puerto Vallarta and down the beach highway to Mismaloya, breaking up the ride with a refreshment stop along the way. Our hotel for the night is unusual in that it is built into a cliff at the ocean’s edge, so some of us will take the elevator down to our rooms. A private sheltered beach awaits those wanting a sunset dip or a walk on the sand.

Our southward travels continue on Day Six, through the coastal forest and hills, to La Manzanilla and a visit to the crocodiles in the nearby mangrove preserve, where we’ll walk on a series of swinging bridges through the swamp—just out of reach of the crocs. We’ll enjoy lunch on the beach before continuing on to Barra de Navidad for the night and a sunset cocktails and dinner overlooking the Pacific.

Today, on Day Seven, we’ll begin our climb into the mountains toward Ajijic, heading north, then east and around the city of Colima to the Magical Town of Comala. Our destination for the night is located in the hills outside of town.

From the Comala area we’ll ride the twisties around the Nevado de Colima and the active Volcán de Colima to Atenquiqui for a wonderful breakfast / brunch. Along the way we’ll enjoy spectacular views of both volcanoes. We will continue on through the alpine village of Mazamitla, looping around the west half of Lake Chapala to Ajijic in plenty of time for cocktails and our farewell dinner together.

The next day some of you will head north, while others choose to enjoy Mexico for a few more days.
