Climate

The perfect weather conditions for the ride of a lifetime.

During “winter” months Central Mexico becomes the perfect playground for motorcycle riders. The summer rainy season has ended, the sun shines every day and the air is clear and warm. Month after month from November through April the great riding days go on and on.

The Sierra Madre mountain range has it all. The climate ranges from sunny and warm days with cool and fresh nights at the higher altitudes, to the semi-tropical climate of the coast where the sea breeze and ocean sounds add to the mystique of old Mexico.

Landscape

Some of the best riding anywhere in the mountains of the Sierra Madre.

Our rides begin and end in the mountain town of Ajijic. The pavement twists and turns, climbing from the tropical beaches of the Pacific Coast into the high country of the legendary Sierra Madre mountain range.

Far from the tourist developments we connect with Mexican life. The people here still maintain the traditional Mexican attitude, unhurried, friendly and helpful, they are unaffected by the stresses of the big cities and the border a thousand kilometres to the north.

We ride on curvy asphalt roads, mostly of very good quality and also on cobblestone surfaces in the towns. All of our bikes have top cases for carrying day-use items like changes of clothes and water bottles.

Challenges

We've got you covered - from rock solid bikes to experienced guides.

Our bikes have been carefully chosen and prepared to give you the best possible riding experience on the Mexican roads. All are equipped with ABS brakes to help you manage surprises, like finding a burro wandering across the road as you round a bend. The BMW GS suspension maintains stability as it soaks up any surprise bumps or broken asphalt.

The BMW R1200GS, F700GS and F650GS twin are as close as it gets to being the perfect bike for exploring the “real” Mexico safely and comfortably. Their long suspension travel, both front and rear, allows us to hit the country’s notorious speed bumps comfortably at speeds that would launch most bikes into the ditch. Their relatively light weight, smooth power delivery and user-friendly ergonomics make them feel like an old friend after only a short time in the saddle.

Nails and other tire hazards are a little more common here and may cause an occasional leaky tire. The computers on our bikes include real time tire pressure information, usually providing plenty of time to safely seek repairs.

The media in the USA and Canada have created some distorted images of risks. In our lengthy experience we have found that those images are far from the truth in the areas we travel. In thousands of riding hours we have never had so much as a scare and the biggest risk is keeping your eyes on the road in such a spectacular environment.

"We've been back to ride with you four times now, on four different tours. Each one has been wonderful in its own way and we have always felt comfortable and safe."
